This CD has been produced in memory of Brother Roger, the Founder of the Taize Community in France who died in August 2005 aged 90. Distinguished church leaders of all faiths attended his funeral, along with community leaders and statesmen from many nations.
Brother Roger founded his Community in the village of Taize in southeast France in 1940, and for over 60 years he dedicated his life, and that of his followers, to peace and reconciliation. His famous chants are known worldwide, particularly amongst young people who flock to Taize as pilgrims every year to join in Brother Roger's unique form of Taize worship.
The chants on this CD have been chosen as some of the most popular to have come out of Taize, and those who have visited the Community will recognize in them the constant theme of PEACE, which conveys the every essence of Brother Roger's vision, and also something of the soul of this saintly man.
